Check out pictures from the Annual BBQs: 2006 | 2007 | 2010 | 2011!
In its early years, the HOA was very active in setting neighborhood events. Formal New Year's eve dinner dances at the Country Club and several children’s events were among the annual events.
During the 1990’s the annual children’s events were a Halloween parade and an Easter egg hunt.
An annual BBQ for all neighbors also began in the 1990’s. Initially located at the “Little Park” at the end of Riviera Drive, the HOA Board members brought their own grills and prepared hamburgers and hot dogs for up to about 100 people. The BBQ moved to Peacock Gap Park in early years of the new century and drew more participants with expanded children’s activities of face-painting, rock wall climbing, and a clown show.
In 2006, the Board greatly improved the BBQ by hiring a professional BBQ crew to grill chicken and hot dogs. Adult offerings were enlarged to include wine from a San Marino Drive neighbor’s French winery. Attendance topped 300. A committee of concerned neighbors used the occasion to solicit members for a median improvement committee. See the whole median improvement story here.
In 2007, the same BBQ crew and more “local” French wine, brought in 400 participants. The median improvement committee returned with draft landscaping plans for the medians.
Due to our financial condition, the HOA was unable to have a BBQ in 2008 and 2009.
The HOA Events Committee is always looking for fun-loving and organized volunteers. See Volunteer Opportunities here.
